Pyramid v2020: Major Release Advancements and Features

Pyramid v2020 is a major release aimed at creating a self-optimizing decision platform that addresses the common pitfalls of BI tools by empowering the crucial middle 80% of users with accessible yet powerful end-to-end analytics, thereby enabling data-driven decision-making across entire organizations in a crowded and often inadequate analytics market.

We’re pleased to announce Pyramid v2020, our latest release. It represents a major advancement in our product roadmap and brings us closer to realizing our vision: creating the self-optimizing decision platform for data-driven organizations.

Before we get into the details of what we included in the new release, I want to share a little about how and why we got here in the first place.

Standing Out in a Crowded Market

Pyramid Analytics operates in a saturated analytics and BI market with hundreds of platforms to choose from. From our perspective, only a few analytic platforms are truly "enterprise-grade," and even fewer can deliver end-to-end analytics.

Despite the abundance of options, organizations must make a choice. Analytics is no longer optional; it's essential for remaining relevant. Many analytics implementations fail after choosing a well-known or trendy vendor.

Our CTO, Avi Perez, highlights four crucial signs that an organization may have selected the wrong BI platform:

  1. 1.The analytics tool only provides answers everyone already knows.
  2. 2.People are not using it.
  3. 3.Confidence in insights and analysis is low.
  4. 4.The tool is either too simplistic for complex business questions or too complicated for users to adopt.

The last symptom is particularly common. Many platforms cater only to casual users or, conversely, only to advanced users, failing to meet the needs of the majority. We achieved this by adding two new Discovery modes—Smart Discover and Discover Lite—to complement the re-named Discover Pro mode. BI developers and administrators also have new tools to customize the user environment.

Now, Pyramid can serve anyone, from business users and analytics initiates to data scientists, bringing everyone together in a collaborative analytics environment. It’s an enterprise analytics solution for users with diverse skills.

But Wait, There’s More!

With Pyramid v2020, we've introduced a significant set of new data connectivity and analytic capabilities. Highlights include:

  • SAP BW Integration: New native integration options for SAP BW make it a first-class data source. Pyramid now enables efficient, modern analytics for SAP BW (including legacy BW, BW on HANA, and BW 4HANA), overcoming the limitations of SAP’s own tools.
  • ETL 2.0: Our graphical modeling tool, already comparable to leading standalone ETL products, is now even more powerful. This professional-grade data wrangling tool comes standard with Pyramid.
  • Augmented Analytics Server: Customization options for advanced users include maintaining multiple virtual machines for Python version management, providing standard environments for machine learning projects, and managing library versions for flawless execution of shared Python scripts.
  • Bug Fixes, UI Improvements, New Administrative Controls: We’ve implemented over 100 new enterprise-grade features and capabilities, including bug fixes, UI improvements, and enhanced administrative controls to accelerate workflows and provide greater flexibility.
