Pyramid lands on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for ABI platforms for the 7th year
Pyramid Analytics has been recognized for the seventh consecutive year in Gartner’s 2020 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, highlighting its focus on augmented analytics—such as Smart Discovery and Smart Reporting—alongside traditional analytics, reflecting its commitment to balancing advanced machine learning capabilities with user-friendly, enterprise-grade features introduced in its 2020 platform release.
Gartner just published its 2020 Magic Quadrant for Analytics and Business Intelligence Platforms, and Pyramid Analytics has been recognized for the 7th straight year. The world's leading research and advisory company evaluates hundreds of BI platforms each year, and Pyramid Analytics is proud to be recognized alongside some of the most well-known offerings in the market.
The headline theme in this year’s Magic Quadrant is augmented analytics. Gartner emphasizes the importance of augmented analytics for data and analytics leaders: “Augmented capabilities are becoming key differentiators for analytics and BI platforms, at a time when cloud ecosystems are also influencing selection decisions.” Of the five Strategic Planning Assumptions in the report, three are related to augmented analytics.
Augmented analytics is a core focus of Pyramid, along with flexibility and balance. It is highlighted as one of the key strengths in Pyramid’s write-up in this year’s report, validating recent development efforts.
Balancing Augmented and Traditional Capabilities
When Pyramid launched its completely re-architected platform in late 2017, the goal was to build a full-featured analytics and reporting platform that leveraged existing investments while integrating a machine learning framework to anticipate future analytic needs.
In October, Pyramid released Pyramid v2020, introducing over 150 new enterprise-grade features and capabilities to improve data-driven decision-making. The release included numerous augmented capabilities such as Smart Discovery, Smart Reporting, and Augmented Analytics Server, aiming to add sophistication without overcomplicating the user experience.
Today, Pyramid strikes a balance between traditional analytics (focus on insights) and augmented analytics (focus on actions, predictions, and recommendations). For example, the graphically based data preparation tool can be used by end users and also features advanced AI-driven modeling capabilities. The discovery application features natural language queries (NLQ) and automatic visualizations for quick insights, while also offering deep analytic capabilities.
This pairing is intentional. By including functionality for both technical and non-technical users, Pyramid enhances collaboration and deepens organizations’ commitment to analytics. This is seen as key to creating enduring analytics cultures.
Flexibility and Scalability
Flexibility and scalability are also crucial for an enduring analytics culture. Pyramid’s balanced approach to governance and self-service analytics has been a hallmark over the years. The flexible product architecture allows data leaders to leverage analytics across the organization without sacrificing administrative controls or security. This enables organizations to deploy Pyramid across a broad range of use cases and scale analytics to many users without complicated provisioning. As one of the few vendors supporting the full analytics workflow in a single platform, users can collaborate and share analytics insights easily and securely.
Continued Focus on Customer Needs
Pyramid believes that no other competing ABI solution offers as much analytic capability without overwhelming users. While recognition in industry reports is appreciated, true success is measured by customer success. Customer feedback is a key factor driving the product roadmap. As Pyramid moves forward, customer needs will continue to guide product vision and development. Each release, major or minor, will consider how the analytics platform can help all types of users make decisions with data.
As Pyramid Analytics evolves, the focus remains on making customers’ enterprise analytics initiatives successful. The continued recognition on Gartner’s Magic Quadrant is seen as confirmation of this focus on customer needs—past, present, and future.
